AT THE BAIK LAB, WE’RE HArnessing the behavior of mosquitoes for a healthier world.

Welcome To

The Baik Lab

Where Passion
Meets Curiosity

We study the deadliest animal on earth, the mosquito.
Our goal is to better understand the sensory neurobiology of their disease-spreading behaviors. We aim to use our research to control mosquito behavior and fight against the enormous burden that they pose on global health.

Featured Research Project

Are some humans tastier to mosquitoes than others?

It’s well established that mosquitoes use odor and heat to locate humans, but much less is known about what drives their decision to bite after landing. To fill this gap in knowledge, the Baik lab is investigating the underlying mechanisms of the taste system of mosquitoes. By better understanding how mosquitoes taste human hosts and guide their biting behaviors, we may find new avenues of vector control and disease prevention.

Itching to understand how mosquitoes decide to bite someone?

You’ve come to the right place! Our research aims to uncover how mosquitoes guide their decision to bite someone. We are also looking for more effective and innovative ways to stop them from biting us.
